This came from a friend, Kalihva, who introduced a few different UK traditional recipes.

Ingredients

  • 1 Rutabaga, peeled and cubed
  • 2 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • salt and pepper
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 350°F
  2. Peel, cube and boil rutabaga and potatoes in pot of salted water for 20 minutes
  3. Sauté shredded cabbage in a little butter or olive oil until slightly wilted
  4. Add some butter (about 1/2 a stick should do) to drained rutabagas and potatoes and mash
  5. Stir in cooked cabbage
  6. Salt and pepper to taste
  7. Put mixture in baking pan and top with cheese
  8. Bake 30-35 minutes
